Seriously... I haven't updated in almost a year?
And it just took me 5 minutes to figure out how to post here again... Doesn't look like Vox is my cup of tea.
Any reason to stay here?
This is still here, isn't it?
Vox = voice... mine's a little silent here of late, isn't it?
Big surprise (not.)
I mean, I only remember it's here when someone says "Vox" elsewhere... maybe I should just close it down.
meh.
It's so easy for me to forget about this place until someone mentions it - then I think "oh - I should log into my Vox account and see what I've missed!"
Unfortunately - the answer is still 'not much' - yes, I know there's a vibrant and prolific Vox community blogging away out there. I just don't really feel like a part of it, still.
I live for my LiveJournal. I keep my MySpace for those freaks from my past who apparently can't get anyplace else on the internet. I have that one Blogger account from 6 years back that I update once in a blue moon... But Vox just doesn't seem to offer me anything they don't.
That could be because I'm really not putting anything into it either. I don't know that I have the extra time or energy to do so. I've certainly determined that it's not going to replace LJ as my main 'hangout' on the net.
Still - two months between the last entry and this one doesn't exactly indicate that I'm hooked.
It sort of feels like the coffee shop a couple of blocks over from your usual hangout... that has it's own regulars and it's own atmosphere and all... but it's still the place you go only when your usual one is closed or you are trying to go for a change of pace.
Ah well. Could be worse.
Could be as annoying as MySpace.
I like the look - I like the ease of use... so why is it so hard for me to remember to come here and update?
I guess the one thing that makes me hang so tightly over at LJ that vox and myspace and blogger et al don't really seem to have a good equivalent of is the friends list view.
It's nice to be able to consolidate everything into one view - and scroll.
Here I feel like I do 10 times the work just to read what I want to... so I don't come often, and therefore don't post often.
Well - perhaps that will change.
Well, to be honest - even having the ability to blog over here at last isn't really making this a "must-visit" place for me.
If it weren't for the link on my browser, I'd probably forget about it more than I already do.
Something not quite as dynamic about it as LJ has always seemed to me.
Could be because by the time I got hooked on LJ it was 'in full swing' as it were - and my friends posted regularly - whereas here, we're sporadic at best... Or it could just be that 'je n'sais quoi' that has made LJ such a success in spite of it's many copy-cats.
Whatever the case is... I have a feeling that this place won't be someplace that will take the place of LJ so much as one of many supplemental "internet dwellings" I possess. Rather like an aparment in Paris, when one owns them already in NY, LA, London and Rome... but the main residence is clearly the one in Denver.
Ah well.
It's a nice place, it's just not home.
Soda? Cola? Pop? What do you say? Any other regional words that set you apart?
Question submitted by Gladys.
Technically, from here, I'm supposed to say "Pop" -- but to me, that's a form of eMail connectivity... It's Soda - or even Soda Pop - or hell, I'm more likely to use the phrase "Soft Drinks" (seriously.)
Something about "Pop" just sounds so trailer-park to me.
Then again, I have spent time in the south where "What kind of Coke do you want?" can actually be answered "Orange" or "7Up" and no one bats an eyelash.
Okay, since I've been fortunate enough to be upgraded from the Starter Account, I guess I'd best take advantage of it and post something...
Only I'm exhausted and uncreative.
So this will have to serve as a placeholder until I get something better to put here! :P

Oh the humor... it's been OVER a year since I visited after posting this. yay Vox! read more
